Situated in the heart of La Crosse at 1205 South Seventh Street, Salzer Square is convenient to many services.
We are within blocks of Gundersen-Lutheran and Franciscan Skemp medical centers, and Viterbo's Performing Arts Center. Many churches are within walking distance. We are also two blocks from the Southside Neighborhood Center, and on the city bus line.
Salzer Square has a caring staff on site to link residents with community resources and assist with any personal needs. Free blood pressure checks are available weekly, or any time upon request, to help you monitor your blood pressure history. We have also teamed up with a local dry cleaner to provide pick-up and delivery of dry cleaning. Residents can visit a professional hair stylist on the premises. An area pharmacy will deliver prescription, personal and gift item to your door; and a local grocery store will deliver groceries weekly from your personal shopping list. Use our excercise equipment or attend weekly exercise classes in the excercise room.
We offer a daily meal program in our dining room. Tenants plan monthly birthday dinners. We change decorations to go with the seasons and holidays. Grilled foods are prepared on our adjacent sunken garden patio in the summer. A piano is located in the den off of the dining room, and our chef doubles as a musician. Two guest rooms are available for nightly rental at a nominal cost when your friends and relatives come to visit.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy living at Salzer Square knowing that the Salzer staff will take care of mowing the lawn and shoveling the snow. The art of retirement living: independence, affordability, freedom, comfort, sense of well-being--Hallmarks of daily life at Salzer Square!
Salzer Square began its life as the Salzer Seed Co. in the 1920s. In 1987 this historic building was acquired by Gunderson Lutheran medical center. It was cleared out to the bare walls and reconstructed as brand new senior apartments with all new plumbing, heating, electric, windows, insulation, roofing, elevators, walls, carpet, and cabinets. In 2004 the property was acquired by Warren Loveland. Additions since then include a new underground parking garage, ten new apartments. The community areas, landscaping, and exercise room were also rehabilitated.
